The 'Mazing Memory Museum

The ‘Mazing Memory Museum was devised and delivered for Glasgow’s Doors Open Day 2015, in response to the need to further engage children and young people with the City’s Heritage. The idea was to invite children to play and recount their experiences of The Riverside Transport Museum and it’s exhibits. The 3 day event saw the creation of an amazing straw-bale maze. At the heart of which, a creative workshop allowed the visitor to select, and record a story to, a ceramic trinket in the ‘TROVE’ Memory Box.

TROVE’ uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to connect voice recordings to individual objects placed within it. Children and parents told us of their favourite exhibits in the museum and discovered that their stories played back to them when their objects were placed back into the memory box. Afterwards visitors decorated and personalised their objects to share their experiences with you now, in the ‘Mazing Memory Museum!
